Louie Jack Man started his martial arts study during his years in hong kong in the popular art of Hung Ga. In the Kowloon waterbus company union, there occupied many individuals teaching and learning various types Kung Fu as a past time. While practicing there, he caught a glimpse of individuals practicing the esoteric art of southern mantis. Louie jack man would again gain insight in this art during the 1960’Äôs under the direction of Lam Wing Fay in the NYC Chinatown Freemasons association. He then later went under extensive instruction along with few others in Lam sangs apartment. He would eventually move to Philadelphia, PA where he taught a select few individuals. Although having many years never officially opening a school, he has instructed many in the art of southern mantis and played a role in expansion of its art in the US. He taught openly to those who wished to learn. Although regarded by many as a great master, he remained modest, kept to himself and never profited nor boasted of his abilities.
